Taking control

Affiliate marketing is a great concept and nothing new.

The idea that you get paid a commission for selling someone else’s product is as old as the hills.

When you add the reach of the internet, it really comes into its own.

So it really is a great way to get things rolling in your own online marketing business.

HOWEVER, there is one bloody great fly in the ointment! You are TOTALLY reliant on others.

If people are not creating decent products, you’re buggered.

As an example of what I mean, I’m always on the lookout for products or services that I think would benefit my subscribers…

…but I have to say pickings over the last few days have been slimmer than an anorexic stick insect!

There was just nothing I could hand on heart present to you as something worth investigating.

If this was my whole business I would be getting quite nervous by now…

…it might have even tempted me to lower my standards and point you in the direction of things just because they had a decent commission structure.

Fortunately I DON’T just rely on affiliate sales.

Indeed the majority of my online income comes from my own products and services.

So my message to you is to be looking to create your own products as soon as you can.

I can sense that a number of you will be going green around the gills just contemplating the idea…

…but here’s the thing, you’d be amazed how easy it can be to create a product of you own.

Maybe you don’t like your own voice. Fine write a PDF. Maybe writing isn’t a strong point, well record your screen. Perhaps it is time that is a constraint, look at outsourcing.

The thing is once you create your own product, you have it for life and you can do what you want with it.

It truly opens up a whole bunch of doors for you.

So if you do feel uncomfortable about the idea of you being able to create something, how about this as a simple plan:

1. Research the top 10 questions in your particular niche
2. Imagine the questions are being asked by a friend, and record your answers to that ‘friend’.

BINGO!

Even if you spent 5 minutes on each answer, you now have a 50 minute MP3.

In other words, you have your first product!

It doesn’t have to be hard, but believe me, the rewards are well worth it.

Get creating your own product now and see what freedom it gives you.

The story behind the training was that I set myself a challenge on a Monday, to create a product from scratch and have it up for sale before the end of the week.

And that’s what I did.
