The Change of Mindset That Made the Difference

Today I want to talk to you about a change of mindset that was so vital for me and my business…and what it could mean to you.

Some of you may be aware that in the early days, there was a period where I struggled online…

…and I mean really struggled!

Don’t worry I’m not looking for sympathy, I wasn’t one of those sob stories you hear about with marketers in debt up to their eyeballs etc.

No, but it seemed no matter how hard I tried and what I tried…

…it seemed to crash and burn.

You see the problem was I tried to make it online without any sort of investment.

Back then I could not distinguish between ‘cost’ and ‘invetsment’.

My thinking was, there is so much information out there on the web for free, why should I spend any of my hard earned cash.

It seemed sensible to me then and maybe it does to you now.

And do you know what, there IS a huge amount of valuable information out there at no cost.

BUT…it is buried in a ton of the brown smell stuff!

Anyway, whether it was desperation or just a flash of inspiration, I realised that if I wanted to make it, I needed to invest in myself.

I needed someone who had walked the walk.

I needed someone who could show me a way of doing things right and in the right way.

In effect I needed someone to give me the skeleton of the business.

That WAS the turning point.

Of course this didn’t mean things turned round overnight and I lived happily ever after!

Of course not.

There were trials…

…there were tribulations.

But the important thing was I was now moving in the right direction and therefore the hiccoughs were now learning points to take me forward rather than another dead end.

So here is my advice to you, if you are currently not doing as well as you would like online…

1. sign up to as many lists as possible
2. read their mails
3. read their blog (if they have one)
4. work out those that you relate too (not everyone is going to
be turned on by the same approach)
5. See if they have resources/training that shows how they made
it
6. Invest in it, complete it and action it

It really is a simple as that.

Don’t reinvent the wheel.

Tread the path that someone else has already travelled and later you can start making little detours to make it your path.

This worked for me and I know it can work for you.

  1. Hi,

I found the other important factor is treating your IM work seriously and as a business rather than a hobby really works.

    Congrats on making it work.

    Dale.
