Work at Creating Rapport

Get this right with your emails to your readers and you can almost (I stress ALMOST) forget about anything else.

Luckily rapport is something that happens naturally and unconsciously when we have contact with another person that we relate to, but we can also consciously work at building up rapport.

So the key point here is that it is hugely important that you come across as a real person in your mails.

Include something of ‘you’ in all the mails you send.

Don’t be tempted to just throw hypey claims in the face of your new subscriber.

In practice this means don’t be frightened to mention your hobbies, your likes, your dislikes, who you are and what you are about.

You want to come across as a very real person with very real opinions and a life outside of your online business.

 

Subject Lines That Capture The Attention

It’s fair to say, if people don’t open your emails, your emails are not going to create sales…

…no matter how good your content is.

So get them reading your emails to create the rapport I have mentioned, you need to spend time and effort on making you Subject lines of interest.

Ask questions, tease the reader, use the same tactics as the ‘clickbait’ headline writers (only you should ensure you back up your claims) and introduce the ‘Fear Of Missing Out’.

All of these tactics are a great way to get people opening your emails.

 

Be Interesting…and Different

You will probably know yourself that  the vast majority of emails you receive from marketers basically have the message ‘BUY ME, BUY ME!’

No real content and no real variety.

As much as we want to promote our wares as well, take some time to write stuff that people might want to read.

Tell personal stories, tell jokes, communicate interesting/weird facts…

…just make sure you are not JUST sending pure promotional emails all the time.

Yes, they are fine every now and again, but if your readers think that is all they are going to get from you, it won’t take them long to hit the old ‘unsubscribe’ button.

The better you do this stage, the quicker you will achieve the first stage (i.e. create rapport between yourself and your readers)!
