The irreconcilable difference between me and my wife

My wife is watching Andy Murray in the tennis at the moment.

I’m afraid me and  Mr Murray do not tend to get on (I’ve never actually met him you understand, and I’m sure he’s a lovely fella), but for some reason when he is on the tennis court he just winds me up.

argueUnfortunately this in turn winds my wife up, which does nothing for the peace and harmony in our household.

I have therefore skulked away to the office, put a few select tunes on and decided to update my blog.

Firstly, you may have noticed I’ve given it a bit of a makeover.  Nothing too drastic, but just a few tweaks I thought improved it.  I’d love to hear your thoughts and see if you agree with me.

But that’s not what I wanted to talk to you about today.

I’ve I’m sure you have heard the expression ‘Variety is the spice of life’.

I for one can really relate to that.

I’m sure you’ve also heard the expression, ‘Jack of all trade, but master of none’

It is an expression that is used as an insult. It is also something I don’t have any time for.

For me, knowing a little about a lot is a great place to be.

You see I’m someone who has the attention span of an inattentive gnat!

I like doing lots of different stuff…

…and it was one of the reasons I wanted to get out of employment as soon as I could.

Now I have my own business (well several really) that bring in the income for the bills etc.  It also gives me the variety that I need to keep me enthused and in addition a certain level of financial security.

You see if one of my income streams goes belly up, it is not catastrophic.

It might be a right royal pain in the backside…

…but it isn’t going to put me on the bread line.

Even within the income streams I have, I like to have variety.

So for example within my internet marketing I have several strategies that I use, each which brings in an income.

I will always have a sales funnel/list building core to the business, but I’m forever looking out for new little strategies that I can add to my income streams.

I’m not looking for huge returns, but if it can bring in a few hundred a week extra then I’m a happy man.

The sort of things I look out for are the WSOs where people who have used a strategy write it up for you to follow.

If they have been successful and they are able to write it up in a simple step by step guide…

…I’m all over it.

(Now for the topical Easter reference)

Are you guilty of having all your eggs in one basket?

It might be your job, or it might be the one method/strategy you use online.

Either way I think it is a big risk in this day and age.

It wasn’t that long ago that the changes to the Google algorithms destroyed many a niche marketers’ income literally overnight.

Those with a second or third string to their bow will have been able to weather this storm…

…however then there were the others who had focussed purely on building and ranking sites.

These were the guys who found it much more difficult to recover…if they ever did!

So if you haven’t already, make sure you are building in some variety to your life plan and give yourself that added bit of income security.

Now where’s the remainder of the chocolate eggs while the good lady wife is distracted by the tennis…..
